House: Day 7

Color!

It has been one long week, but we can finally see some real progress. Yesterday morning, we got to the house around 9:00 or so and did some quick primer touch-ups before adding our first coat of Lakefront Blue to the walls, a step which quickly and dramatically changed the look of the whole place. By the end of the night, I’d done one coat on all of the walls that will be getting it, so we’ll see how it looks dry today. So far, they look of from afar, but have some flaws when you look up close. Hopefully, a second coat will take care of those things.

Aimee spent the day doing some tedious tasks, like washing the walls in the two bedrooms in order to get them ready for priming today, and tearing the contact paper off the shelves in the kitchen, a thankless and endless job. We also removed some of the nasty wallpaper and two layers of glue in the bathroom in order for the tile to be finished. We’ll have to remove the rest when they’re done.

Brian came over for lunch, becoming the first of our friends to actually see the place. Hopefully it’ll look a little different next time he’s there. We went to The Counter (twice in a week now, but who’s counting?)

One coat

Tonight, I’ve got a meeting, so Aimee is going to prime the office, I think, and then we’ll see what else needs to be done when I come over later. She’s gone tomorrow night, so I’ll hopefully be able to do a second coat of the living room and maybe a first coat in the office, which we haven’t chosen a color for yet. I think the bathroom might be done this week, which would be a great step, and would cut down on the need for trips to Whole Foods.

I’m dying to know the correlation between the bathroom and Whole Foods… are their urinals open-source?

The nearest free, no questions asked restrooms, which we took advantage of every night before our bathroom went online.
