Sondre in real life

Our weeks of living in limbo are almost done; Friday morning, the movers come and we’ll be out of our old apartment by the end of the day. It’s been a strange few weeks, with most everything packed up now, and we’re living with two bowls, two plates, two spoons, etc. My back has been killing me all week, from too much lifting and leaning and bending the wrong way, I guess. Between that and the running injury earlier this year, I’m starting to feel old.

We had a great time at the Sondre Lerche concert at the Troubadour on Monday night. He put on a great solo show, without the band for the first time in awhile, for me at least. The audience was very attentive, and thanks to the two-show schedule, it wasn’t all that crowded, either. He didn’t play any new songs, but stuck to material from Phantom Punch and the Dan in Real Life soundtrack he did recently. He also talked about the last time he played the Troubadour, and what an epic show it was – indeed. Dan Wilson, whose name I didn’t recognize, was the opener. During the first song of his we heard, I remarked to Aimee that he sounded like the lead singer of Semisonic. Cue the next song, where he started talking about his band, Semisonic. It was really strange. We heard them in Chicago in 2001, I think, but he looked a lot different then, and was minus his band now. Photos from the show will have to wait until we unpack the cable for the camera.

Last night we enjoyed the premiere of Janet’s episode of “Bones,” the first time I’ve watched an actual TV show written by a friend, with that friend. It was a lot of fun, and we got a lot of strike gossip from her writer friends. Get ready for no new TV for awhile.

It’s going to be a busy three-day weekend of moving for us, so until then…
