An aerial tram and a Flying Fortress

We went on our first family trip as a foursome last weekend in anticipation of my birthday, a road trip to Palm Springs. While Lucy didn’t seem to love the car ride out there, Grace impressed us with her ability to sleep with a three month-old screaming at the top of her lungs next to her. Amazing.

Grace and I rode the Palm Springs Aerial Tram, which was a lot of fun, both as far as the ride itself, and the walk we did at the top. We enjoyed running around in the snow, and even managed a little sledding on a couple of frisbees we’d brought. This Alaska was a little ashamed for what passed for snow (and for sledding), but it was better than nothing.

On Sunday, we stopped by the Palm Springs Air Museum before heading back to Los Angeles. They have quite a nice collection, including a lovely Corsair:

Outside on the tarmac was a beautiful B-17, and the museum offered an opportunity for visitors to crawl around inside the airplane, something I’ve never done before. It was an awe-inspiring experience, and gives you a little sense of what it must have been like to spend hours inside an uninsulated, noisy, and cramped craft like this.
