Time flies when you’re in escrow

Claremont

Or maybe it doesn’t, but getting all of the home-buying stuff in order has certainly kept us busy. We’re somewhere in the midst of it all right now, closer to the end than to the beginning, but can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel yet. Or maybe we can see it, but it’s far away.

Last weekend, we headed to Claremont for an overnight, a Christmas present I had arranged for Aimee, with a walking tour of the colleges, a fondue dinner with live jazz at Hip Kitty (beware the music if you follow that link) and a night at Hotel Casa 425. Now that we’ve bagged our planned spring break road trip around the state in order to save money and time for the house, this became our road trip.

We had a nice time walking the Village and the campuses, despite the rain that led to the official walking tour being canceled. Have iPhone, will tour, we thought, and took off with Claremont Heritage’s self-guided walking tour PDFs as our guide instead. We also spent some time in Pomona on Antiques Row and relaxed in the hotel before heading to dinner just down the street. The music was great, the fondue was terrific, and the atmosphere was very cool – that restaurant is a great idea, well-executed, we agreed.

The next morning, we walked through the local botanic garden, went for a hike in Glendora on the way back home, and then decided to stop at IKEA in Covina for a little research. There might be a baby Norden in our future…
