Roma, here we come

June 13th, 2008 · No Comments

It feels like it’s snuck up on us, but tonight, we leave for Italy for a week for Matteo and Laura’s wedding. We’re really excited – I’ve only been to Italy once, and never to Rome or Florence. We’re trying the week-in-Europe-with-no-checked-luggage thing, so we’ve each got our carry on and have crammed everything – in my case, that includes a suit for the wedding, my running shoes, my camera – into it. It’s been a pretty quiet few weeks around here, with work going fine, Aimee finishing up school, a few good rounds of trivia – a first two weeks ago, second this past Tuesday, though without Luc, which made the evening a painful experience for all – and nice weather. I’ve been putting 50 States entries into the queue over the past few days so they’ll be posted while we’re gone, and we’ll only have five days between when we fly back from Venice and when we leave for Maui, so June is pretty much over as of now. It should be a great trip – we watched Roman Holiday on Wednesday and have been collecting gelateria suggestions, so we should be all set, right? I feel rather un-prepared, but it’s good to have a relatively plan-free vacation every once in awhile. Depending on the availability of free Wi-Fi, there may be some entries popping up; I just have to remember to take out my SIM card so my phone doesn’t rack up the bills sending data in the middle of the night.
