I don’t know how much I really changed my pacing for this distance as opposed to the 5Ks I’ve been running, but it was nice to have a bit of a change. The most memorable part of the race for me were the folks by the side of the course, cheering us on and offering their support. This race had a group of nuns overseeing a water station, and then, less than a mile later, a man offering shots of whiskey from the back of his car, which was a first for me. Pretty impressive. A new distance means an instant personal record, and it was a fun day.
