#5: New London, Charter Oak Sailfish 5K, 7/12/15

After Milford, I felt like I was on a roll. Another weekend? I’ll try another race, this one in a town I’d never visited before, New London. The start and finish were in the picturesque center of town, with great old buildings and the war memorial. You can never really tell with the added population of a race day, but the town looked like it was excited for Sailfest but perhaps had seen better days recently. As we gathered for the start, there was the team in charge of timing, painting the start line on the street, an approach I’d never seen before. They used chip timing, but only had mats at the finish line, so I went to the fore to minimize the lag between my gun time and actual time. Even though I felt like I was chugging it up the hills, I managed to finish well and take a few seconds off my previous weekend’s time.
