Along with Colorado, Arizona was our other most common travel destination growing up, home to my mom’s parents. Before she sent me these photo albums, I hadn’t seen this photo, or at least didn’t recall it. I’m in Green Valley, Arizona, where my grandparents lived, apparently in conversation with one of their friends. I’ve avoided photos with others in them thus far, but this one is just priceless. My grandpa looks on in the background, and there I am in my dress pants and buttoned up shirt and is that a name tag? Between my glasses and the cigarette dangling from the gentleman’s hand, it’s definitely the ’80s.
