House: Day 14

March 15th, 2009 · No Comments

So, we’ve come to the end of two straight weeks of work on the house. We had a good solid day there today, and spent it preparing the bedroom for the hardwood floor guys, who start tomorrow morning, and working on the kitchen. After Aimee got rid of the sunflower contact paper on the shelves yesterday, we painted the shelves and the insides of the cabinets, which we continued and mostly finished today. They look so much better than they did before, and it’ll be great to have them ready to accept our kitchen wares when we move in next weekend.

Laundry room wallpaper begone

I took down the tape from the office, and removed everything but the carpet itself from the bedroom, looking very much forward to the miracle work we hope for from the hardwood floor experts who will transform the room from an allergen disaster area into our bedroom.

In the afternoon, we tackled the laundry room wallpaper, recalling how we started the whole process two weeks ago, scraping wallpaper paste off the walls with Dif and a putty knife. I got to know the mystery area behind the washer and dryer as I removed the pesky paste from behind the pipes, and we called ourselves done at around 7:45. I’ll be back at 7:00 tomorrow morning to prime the room and await the floor guys. Seven days ’til we move.
