Calm before the storm

The radio silence on the blog lately has been partly because not a whole lot has been going on, but also because what has been going on is mostly waiting, planning, imagining, and preparing. Escrow has turned into a sort of low murmur, something we know is happening but doesn’t give any outward signs of progress. Escrow ends and we get our keys a week from today, so we’ve been busy making arrangements with contractors for work on the bathroom the hardwood floor, and the living room, and we’ve turned our attention to our current apartment, packing (or as Aimee termed it, “pre-packing”) all of the stuff we won’t need for the next month or so before we move, and cleaning the place for potential tenants.

This weekend, we’ve got some more packing on the horizon, as well as our first real trip to Home Depot (thanks for the birthday gift cards, mom and dad) to get the materials we’ll need to strip the wallpaper and prepare the walls for painting. On Sunday morning, we do our walk-through to make sure everything is still there and in one piece, and then we’ve got the show Sunday afternoon/night. Should be fun, our third time around, with lots of buzz about changes to the show-going experience making us curious to see what the producers have in store. Things are about to get very busy around here….
