I’m sure Nebraska belongs a lot earlier in the list, if it were strictly chronological, but I didn’t work that all out beforehand, so here it is. My dad was born in Nebraska, and my aunt, uncle, and cousins live there, so we visited many times during trips to Colorado growing up. I remember many trips to Sidney, hanging out with Barb and Bruce, looking at their peacocks, my first ride on a horse, and the massive Cabela’s store, with its trophy animal dioramas.

On a 1998 road trip, Carhenge, outside Alliance, Nebraska, was one of most memorable stops, and provided some unique photo opportunities. It’s amazing, the things people will do with a lot of old cars and a lot of space.
