Thanksgiving out here

IMG_5322.JPGIt’s nearly the end of November, and we’ve finally experienced a day that might by any stretch of the imagination be called ‘cold.’ Or rather, ‘not hot,’ as it’s actually only 57° out, which is not at all cold, but somehow, with the wind, actually feels sort of cold, sadly enough. I’m on day six of Thanksgiving leftovers, and my folks left on Monday after a nice visit from Wednesday through the weekend. My brother and sister-in-law were in town for most of that time, as well, and we all had a great Thanksgiving day as well as some good Los Angeles sightseeing, including the Getty, the Griffith, the Huntington, and the Petersen.

In the Gardens

We spent Thursday morning doing a little driving around to get everyone out of the house while Aimee cooked up a great meal, and then spent the rest of the day eating and playing IMG_5350.JPGBalderdash, pretty much. It was enjoyable, and enlightening. Friday, we headed to the Getty in the morning, and we enjoyed an architecture tour as well as some new exhibitions that weren’t around the last time I was there. We had lunch at the Library Ale House in Santa Monica, and took in the sights on Main St. and the pier. Saturday morning, I took Scott and Sarah to the airport, and then headed to the Griffith in the afternoon with my parents. It was packed, but it was nice to see the views of the city during the day time. Sunday, we all spent most of the day at the Huntington Gardens, and had a great, if somewhat choice-free, high tea. Fill up on that caviar. Dad and I finished off the weekend perusing the galleries at the Petersen Auto Museum, which was fun but predictably heavy on the American offerings.
