Already March

It’s hard to believe it’s already March, but here we are. Things have been pretty busy lately, and they’re about to get a lot busier. We watched a lot of Olympics, which might have been boring or lackluster, but were certainly stunning in HD for the first time. We’ve gotten a decent amount of snow in the past two or three weeks, but it always seems to get warm again, and it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting a famed Rochester winter this year.

In school, last week saw the first installment of our big project due, plus our second quarter exam, plus the beginning of our personal project that will be our main focus until June. We’re off to Boston next weekend to visit Aimee’s family, and then I’m in Syracuse the weekend after that and South Carolina after that for school trips. That brings us to April, when I’m in California for a week and Pennsylvania for a week for school, and then Ohio for a week in May. I think we’ve also got some classes and stuff here in Rochester, but looking at the schedule, it looks like one big road trip and airport departure lounge. It should be fun, and we’ll get to know archives and labs around the country as we prepare to be sent out into the world and look for work. It’s going to fly by, I think.

We’re having an Oscar party tonight, which should be fun, I guess. It doesn’t seem like the awards themselves will be much of a surprise, but I look forward to seeing Jon Stewart’s approach to the hosting job. We’ve seen all but a few of the nominees; Syriana came and went before I got a chance to see it, and I couldn’t make myself see Memoirs of a Geisha and some others. It should be fun to watch the ceremonies with a room full of film geeks.
