Thoughts on Stumptown

As the inaugural post in my “Portland” category, I offer the following thoughts:

  1. I think it’s pretty great that in yesterday’s mayoral primary (in which the guy who limited contributions to his campaign to $25 got 41% of the vote, while the guy who raised a million dollars only got only 37%), candidates named “David (The Ack) Ackerman” and “Jim (Spagg) Spagnola” got a few hundred votes, and “Scot (Extremo The Clown) Campbell” got over 1,000.

  2. Good news for Portland’s efforts to lure the Expos and bring major league baseball to Oregon: city officials have released a plan to finance the stadium, to the tune of $340 million. How cool would that be? Maybe it would be the beginning of a SEA-PDX rivalry to rival the other rivalry, even.
