Health Week: Part 1

March 29th, 2004 · No Comments

I don’t go to the doctor much (touch wood), but a confluence of events has led to me schedule three doctor’s appointments in four days this week. Today’s was with the eye doctor, which is always fun. The doctor was a kind, older man, though nothing much like my favorite optometrist of childhood (my approximation of his Hebrew-accented mantra: “Which is better? One or t?? Sree or four?”), but a nice man who informed me that my previous prescription was too strong, which may account for the squinting, headaches, and other visual junk I’d been dealing with. I love the delicious clicking of the various lenses in the giant machine that measures your vision, which I guess I’ve been used to since fourth grade. Likewise the names of the frame manufacturers from the eyeglass shop next door, where I chose some new frames: exotic names like Luxottica, Sferoflex, and Safilo. So I got some new glasses, and we’ll see what they look like at the end of the week. I think I spent the shortest amount of time I’ve ever spent choosing new frames this time; let’s hope decisiveness pays off.
