Modern Medicine

I called my dad at the hospital this morning to see how he was doing and talk to him about his shoulder surgery last night and he regaled me with stories of the hospital, including this doozy: the nurse assigned to his room was also working on a leeching – yes, that’s right, actual leeches, not just the metaphoric kind – which is apparently a fairly new (in that very old kind of way) procedure at the hospital, an effective way to remove blood from a specific area without invasive incisions. He said he might call the paper and suggest they do a story on it. Way to go, Dad!
