169 Towns #24: Cromwell 5/21/16

This was a great little race, a fundraiser for the high school running team and a big draw for teachers and students, as the name implies. It was a quick half hour drive to Cromwell, and I found a small group of Run 169ers there (you never know; many races will gather 30 or more members, while I’ll be the only one at others).

I didn’t know a thing about the race beforehand, as usual, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually a bit of a cross-country race, with the course taking us from grassy fields, behind the track, into the woods a few times, back around the whole thing again and then finishing on the track. We didn’t run on any roads, so no traffic tow worry about, and it was quite a nice course.

I’d been sick all week and hadn’t run since the previous Sunday, so I didn’t feel great, but I managed to keep my place behind all of the speedy kids.
