Here we go

Alright, New York City Marathon. I trained for you in California, when moving east wasn’t even on our minds. I trained for you in Alaska, when I ran a half-marathon and speed-walked up a mountain. I trained for you in Massachusetts, in Rhode Island, in Vermont, and in Connecticut. Through the birth of our second child, my last days at the Academy, through our move across the country and through injury, sickness, and sleepless nights, I kept my eye on the five boroughs. It hasn’t been my most consistent marathon training; in fact, it’s probably been my worst, punctuated not only by my now-annual two-month cold, but also a few injuries and even a dose of physical therapy. So, I’m hoping for the best, but in the end, am happy at this point to be able to start the race. Let’s see what happens.
