Formosa gets a new feature

This week, our little street lost two of its most distinctive features. All week long, we saw the work of a construction crew replacing a set of permanent green pylons in the street a few doors down from us. They seemed to be a sort of speed-impeding device, one that no other streets in the area have (seen in this photo I took while we were here in July). Nearer to the Santa Monica end, we’ve got a roundabout where a perpendicular street intersects, so the street was already sort of distinctive, but now our green pylons, which has looked a little bashed-up in recent days, have been replaced with a little island that matches the roundabout down the other end. This morning, coming back from the cable company office (and no, you can’t just go in and pick up cable cards and install them yourself as I was told on the phone), I noticed that the street’s other unique feature, a set of those same green pylons at the corner of Fountain to discourage people from driving into parked cars, are gone as well. I’m not really sure why we had them and no other street did, but they were a nice landmark to give in directions to our place.

We’re off this morning to pick up the race packet for tomorrow’s Muddy Buddy in San Dimas.
