Settling in; or, life in a post-Wegmans world

August 19th, 2006 · No Comments

So three weeks have flown by since we got in, and we’re beginning to get into a rhythm: running in the morning, going to work, three or more nights a week at the movies, often in the company of James Hong or Robert Towne or Hugh Hefner and his entourage (and that was just last week alone), and working on my project left over from school on the weekends. Hopefully, this part will change and we’ll start exploring and having more free time once that’s done (October), but for now, it’s what’s happening.

We’ve only got a handful of boxes left to deal with, after the weeks of packing things into every nook we have in a Tetris-meets-Rubiks Cube effort to deal with moving into a smaller apartment. Other than that, the apartment is in good shape, and we’re enjoying the place itself as well as the location, though the Jamba Juice is dangerously close. We’re off to the closing night of the UCLA Festival of Preservation tonight, and hope to do a little exploring tomorrow.

Aimee’s had a struggle trying to find a supermarket (or two or three) around here to take the place of the beloved Wegmans, and she’s having to make do with some combination of Ralph’s, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe’s. It’s just not the same, though.
