We caught Word Wars, a Spellbound for the hypochondriac shut-ins of the world, in the screening room at the Coolidge last night. I’m happy to see the stories that would make great movies are actually being made into movies; whether or not they’re truly great is another matter. This was certainly entertaining, and did a great job following around four very different Scrabble? (because I have to) champions. The medicine of choice for each player? Maalox Max, marijuana, brain enhancers, and tai chi. Go see the film to see which one works the best. My favorite line? “I can’t believe he missed ‘dinghies.’ I’d never miss ‘dinghies.’ If you hit me over the head with a claw hammer, I wouldn’t miss ‘dinghies.’ “
