The atmosphere was amazing, while the food was certainly less than stellar. Aimee’s dinner consisted of a side of corn and half a piece of cherry pie after all was said and done, while I fared a little better with the turkey. The Pacific Northwest forest theme was pretty amazing, with animals and trees and babbling brooks all over the place. Definitely a place you need to go to once, but not somewhere I’d look forward to eating at again.

This week’s screening was at the Los Angeles Theatre, a dark and cavernous palace that is quite stunning in some spots, but looks a little worse for wear in others. We got our seats (and I can confirm, they are definitely original to the theater’s early days, nice and cramped) and I wandered around to take some photos. I spotted local PBS celebrity Huell Howser shooting some material for an upcoming show, no doubt, and took a lot of photos of the ornate interior of the theater. After the introduction, and the background info about the film, and the 20 minute Academy Awards short, and the 5 minute Disney short, I could see a long evening stretching out ahead of us, and the last thing I wanted to do was watch a two-hour musical with less-than-stellar sound and a booming echo. So, we took off, satisfied we’d seen the theater, happy to have caught the rare short films, and thankful for an evening that would end before 11 pm. We’ve got one more to go, at the Alex in Glendale in two weeks, and tonight we’re packing for our trip to Charlottesville to meet our new niece.

[More photos from the evening].

We took in (most of) our second evening in the Last Remaining Seats series last night, starting with our first trip to Clifton’s Cafeteria.
