It’s been a pretty quiet few days here, things are back to normal with Aimee back in town after her spring break, and she’s started up at school again. I’m in the third week of marathon training, and it’s going ok, with a nice nine-mile run in Santa Monica on Sunday and a day off yesterday. It’s amazing what a treat a day off is now, it feels like forever, in between runs. <\/p>\n
We had a fun weekend checking out some new restaurants, from Luna Park<\/A> down La Brea from us to the famed Zankou Chicken<\/A>, often recommended but never yet tried until Saturday night. Wow, was it good – succulent grilled chicken and impossible garlic sauce. We also had a delicious homemade Taiwanese dinner with Janet and Eric on Sunday, finally taking advantage of the fact that we know someone who lives on our street; of course, they just bought a house and will be moving from our street within a month or two, but still, it was nice to be able to walk a few blocks up to spend the evening with them.<\/p>\n Tonight is trivia night again, and we’re coming off a somewhat miraculous third place finish last week, coming back from the doldrums for most of the evening with some audacious guesswork to finish in the money. We also won the drinking round, a first for me, which was a nice surprise. We’ll see how it goes tonight. The American Cinematheque’s eagerly awaited Film Noir festival<\/A> (someone, get them a website redesign, please. “\/archive1999\/2007\/”? Huh?) starts this week, and I’ll be spending some quality time at the Egyptian to take advantage of some of the more obscure offerings.
