I found a spot behind the YMCA, got registered, and headed outside just in time to see the mayor open the event with a tune on his bugle, and head the local high school band play the national anthem. You could tell this was a big annual community event, and it drew a big crowd. The 5K started a few hundred yards up the street from the 10K, which was an arrangement I&#8217;d never seen before.
