It was a quick half hour drive to Cromwell, and I found a small group of Run 169ers there (you never know; many races will gather 30 or more members, while I&#8217;ll be the only one at others).<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t know a thing about the race beforehand, as usual, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually a bit of a cross-country race, with the course taking us from grassy fields, behind the track, into the woods a few times, back around the whole thing again and then finishing on the track. We didn&#8217;t run on any roads, so no traffic tow worry about, and it was quite a nice course. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d been sick all week and hadn&#8217;t run since the previous Sunday, so I didn&#8217;t feel great, but I managed to keep my place behind all of the speedy kids.  <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color:#ccc; padding:6px;\"><B>Teacher vs. Student 5K Challenge<\/B> | 5K | 5\/21\/16 | 22:38 | 24\/169<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This was a great little race, a fundraiser for the high school running team and a big draw for teachers and students, as the name implies.
