It began with <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.doubleperf.com\/blog\/archives\/2013\/11\/06\/marathon_to_manhattan.html\">the marathon<\/A>, which seems like it was about a year ago now, and featured travel on four of the five weekends during the month. The day after we returned from New York, I headed to Richmond, Virginia, for the AMIA Conference and a chance to hang out with Scott. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/btmeacham\/11699770445\/\" title=\"IMG_9756 by btmeacham, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2877\/11699770445_ed6d3f2b82.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_9756\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The next week, we all headed to Boston for Lucy&#8217;s christening and to celebrate her first birthday, slightly late. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/btmeacham\/11700554706\/\" title=\"Untitled by btmeacham, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3715\/11700554706_3f492e8658.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"365\" alt=\"Untitled\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the following week, I drove up to Storrs to see Elvis Costello, who put on a great show, as always.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/btmeacham\/11084759095\/\" title=\"Elvis Costello at the Jorgensen at UConn, Storrs, CT 11\/21\/13 by btmeacham, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7293\/11084759095_93843649a2_z.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"625\" alt=\"Elvis Costello at the Jorgensen at UConn, Storrs, CT 11\/21\/13\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The next weekend, I headed to Montreal to sit on the jury of the <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.cinematheque.qc.ca\/en\/sommets\">Sommets du cinema d&#8217;animation<\/A>, an animation film festival. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.doubleperf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/01\/sommets-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"sommets\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3516\" \/><\/p>\n<p><I>Photo: Guillaume Larray<\/I><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d been invited while I was still working in Los Angeles, and I arranged to introduce a slate of films I&#8217;d worked on, as well. It was a great experience. I enjoyed being on the jury, seeing the films, and also spending time in Montreal, one of my favorite cities. It was cold and snowy, so I didn&#8217;t do much besides these three activities: 1) watch movies, 2) read <I>New Yorker<\/I>s, and 3) drink chai lattes. Not a terrible way to spend a few days, but next time, we&#8217;ll go as a family and pick a more family-friendly month. I also got to stop at Auto Photo Canada to check out their shop and meet the legends of the Canadian photobooth, the Grosterns.
