Movie Week 2010 was a multiplex-heavy event, in part because I covered most of the independent cinemas in Los Angeles in 2008<\/A> and 2009<\/A> and also because, having not been to the movies for a few months, I hadn’t seen anything that had come out all summer, most of which was still in the theaters. It was a pricey week of movie-going, with a bunch of $12 tickets and only one freebie thanks to my badge, at the Aero. Average ticket price over the week as $9, which isn’t great, but on the other hand, I was happy to see that six of the seven films were presented in 35mm, with only Wall Street<\/I>, which I saw on its opening weekend, screening in digital format. <\/p>\n

I’ve now covered 21 theaters, which sounds like a lot, but there are still many more to go, including the two new branches of the ArcLight chain that opened up this past year, as well as almost every theater in Santa Monica, which in theory should be easier to get to now that we’ve moved to the westside. I don’t know when I’ll have the time to indulge in another week of movies again, but I had a good time, caught up on my new releases, and acquainted myself with a few more local landmarks.<\/p>\n
