Or in Our Case, Lose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I joined Aimee and her family for a trip to <a title=\"Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foxwoods.com\/\">Foxwoods<\/a> yesterday, and it was an eye-opening experience.  I found out that when you win early, you end up losing.  And I found out I have little talent at both video poker and the slots.<BR><BR><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"aimee_tiki.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.doubleperf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2004\/06\/26\/aimee_tiki.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" border=\"0\" \/><BR><BR>And that the definition of &#8220;token&#8221; can be found when examining the relationship between the casino and the Mashantucket Pequot on whose land the casino resides.  And that there are a lot of people who have nothing better to do than gamble on a Friday afternoon.  I was one of them.<BR><BR>Another photo for my collection of corny movable-letter church signs:<BR><BR><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"kneemail.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.doubleperf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2004\/06\/26\/kneemail.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" border=\"0\" \/><BR><BR><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"html_mini.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.doubleperf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2004\/06\/26\/html_mini.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"108\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\"\/>On the way to Foxwoods, we spotted a Mass. vanity plate that read &#8220;HTTP.&#8221;  Now, Massachusetts is no <a title=\"On the Media\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wnyc.org\/onthemedia\/transcripts\/transcripts_020301_vanity.html\">Virginia<\/a>, and our vanity plates are fairly few and far between.  I was reminded of the plate I&#8217;d seen some time ago that read &#8220;FTP,&#8221; as well as that guy who lives on Putnam Ave. whose Toyota has the &#8220;MITEDU&#8221; plate.  Imagine our surprise, though, when we got back to Brookline late last night and parked next to a Mini whose plate read &#8220;HTML.&#8221; It&#8217;s a sign.  I did some <a title=\"RMV - Vanity Plates\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mass.gov\/rmv\/vanity\/\">checking<\/a>, though, and if anyone is interested, &#8220;URL&#8221; seems to still be available.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I joined Aimee and her family for a trip to Foxwoods yesterday, and it was an eye-opening experience.
