Come to find out tonight that a bunch of Doyle&#8217;s <a title=\"The New York Times | Books | The Curious Incident of the Boxes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2004\/05\/19\/books\/19DOYL.html\">papers and effects are up for auction<\/a> tomorrow.  The ownership of the items is a little controversial, but even more bizarre is the fact that Richard Lancelyn Green, a Sherlockiana scholar whose name has always stuck in my head since I read his books fifteen years ago and an opponent of the proposed sale, was found March 27th &#8220;garroted to death, strangled by a shoelace wrapped around a wooden kitchen spoon used to tighten its grip.&#8221;  Horrific, and very strange, indeed.
