I didn’t got to a movie last night, for the first time in a week, marking the end of my seven nights of moviegoing (sounds like a good idea for a holiday) around Los Angeles. Here’s the lineup, again:<\/p>\n

1. Revolutionary Road<\/I><\/a> at the Goldwyn Theater
\n2. Wendy and Lucy<\/I><\/a> at the Laemmle Music Hall
\n3. Gran Torino<\/I><\/a> at the Bridge Cinema De Lux
\n4. Synecdoche, New York<\/I><\/a> at the Regency Fairfax
\n5. It’s a Wonderful Life<\/I><\/a> at the Egyptian at the American Cinematheque
\n6. The Wrestler<\/I><\/a> at the Landmark
\n7. Tell No One<\/I> and A Girl Cut in Two<\/I><\/a> at the New Beverly<\/p>\n

The theaters ranged from 1.4 miles away (the New Bev) to 11.5 miles away (the Bridge), and the prices ran from free (The Goldwyn and the American Cinematheque, with my badge) to a whopping $13, for the Landmark, including a $1 online ticket fee, which I was happy to pay, knowing that that theater is often packed or sold out. The prices averaged out to just over $6 a ticket, which isn’t too bad, in an age of $14 movies at premium theaters. <\/p>\n

I enjoyed getting out to some theaters I’d never been to before, and I was glad to have been able to catch up on some films I had missed earlier in the year. I’d love to do it again sometime, and can probably come up with a list of seven more essential L.A. theaters I didn’t get a chance to visit this time: the ArcLight, the Silent Movie Theater, the Aero, the Nuart, the Billy Wilder, LACMA, and the Vista. Well, now I know what to do the next time. I wonder if I’ll be as lucky next time; out of seven nights, I parked for free at three meters marked “FAIL.” What are the chances?<\/p>\n
