#27 Wallingford: Fishbein/Wallingford YMCA Road Race

Another race of opportunity, chosen on the morning of because we had no plans and the town was close. I found a spot behind the YMCA, got registered, and headed outside just in time to see the mayor open the event with a tune on his bugle, and head the local high school band play the national anthem. You could tell this was a big annual community event, and it drew a big crowd. The 5K started a few hundred yards up the street from the 10K, which was an arrangement I’d never seen before. The race was flat and fast, save for the last bit, up a hill and through a wooded area into a finish chute near the ballfields.
