#27 East Haven: East Haven Fall Classic 5K

Well, that was a first. After taking the end of the summer off, and running two races in Alaska and the annual New Haven Road Race, it was time to get back on the 169 train. I arrived in East Haven to register for the 5K around 9:10, for a 10:00 am start. After registering, I headed back to the car to drop the goodie bag and get ready. I headed back to the start at 9:35 or so, only to find it looking rather empty. “Hi,” said the cop. “They started already.” Both the website and the paper race guide I’d just been handed said 10:00, so I’m not sure exactly what happened, but I figured I’d already paid for it, and might as well run, even 7:30 after everyone else. I felt pretty tired, and didn’t have anyone nearby to pace off of, but I did pass a bunch of people on the way to a decent finish (though not according to the official clock…)
