169 Towns #11: Middlebury

Feeling rejuvenated and possibly on my way to being healed after a month off and some physical therapy, I decided to take on another race this weekend, just up the Route 8 corridor (a drive I’m getting to know well) a half an hour away in Middlebury. It’s a picturesque little town I haven’t visited before, and after finding some parking on the street, I registered and got set to start through the narrow, uphill passageway that took us out onto the course.

I’m always silently keeping track of the number of people I’ve passed and been passed by, one of the many mental games you play while running, and this time around, I felt pretty good about the differential. I managed a decent time, more than a minute faster than the previous week, and passed a bunch of people to come in 20th out of more than 600, territory I’m not used to being in.
