#9 Deep River: Deep River 5K, 9/19/15

The best part of the 169 Towns website is the giant spreadsheet of upcoming races, and towns without frequent races are labeled “elusive.” I hadn’t hit one of these town yet, so I thought I’d hit Deep River, a town whose name I don’t think I’d ever heard, this weekend. It was just past the Essex Steam Train, under an hour from Woodbridge. There was a big 169 contingent, all there to check off an elusive, and the course was pleasant and flat, past the ferry launch and around the little town. I went out too fast, and my body was wishing it was only a two-mile race, as I’m definitely not back in form yet. I came out OK, though, and just after finishing, I hit the road back home. Apparently I was owed a third place age group trophy, but I didn’t stick around long enough to collect it.
