1997 was a big year: final year of college, then graduation, then a 40 day road trip, and then my first real job. The road trip was the highlight, I have to say, and so I’ve chosen this photo, memorializing the moment when I was in four states at the same time.
There are a bunch of photos to choose from, but not many of me, as I was usually the one with the camera. It was an epic adventure, and Four Corners was just the sort of spot we sought out: a mixture of legitimate attraction and goofy tourist trap.
I’m in my Birkenstock phase, and I’m definitely wearing a $5 t-shirt from Canal Jeans in New York. For more than a month, all we had to do was drive, see stuff, and find a place to sleep. What a dream.
