Sitting in my single in Morrow Dorm in the spring of 1996. I had spent the previous semester in the UK, and this somewhat less-than-desirable dorm was the place that had singles available for people like me, returning mid-year. This picture is loaded with little details; first, what in the world is that wall hanging? I didn’t have a poster or two I could have put up there? I see the film noose from The Player I had swiped from a video store on the left side, and my DQ bowling shirt in the foreground on the right. The “Crab with the Golden Claws” tin I bought in Montreal sits on top of the stereo, and I’m wearing an REM t-shirt I picked up at their show at Great Woods George and I went to in the summer of 1995. Another detail: this photo was one of dozens I salvaged from a flood in a basement storage area in the summer of 1997, which gave it the discoloration on the left side. Every picture tells a story…
