Lucy

We’ve been waiting expectantly for our daughter’s arrival, which was predicted to be around November 8. On November 1, though, Aimee’s doctor told her that surprise, she’d be having the baby the next day. We headed to the hospital at 6:00 am, and just after noon, Lucy arrived with great fanfare and, thankfully, little drama.

It’s amazing how much from Grace’s early days we’ve forgotten, like how little they are, and how much they sleep, and how often they wake up… It’s completely different this time around; I think there’s more to do, more to worry about, but it’s made up for by the fact that we’re less paranoid, less worried about every little thing than we were two years ago. Grace was a little clingy to Aimee at the beginning, but she’s been so interested and so sweet to Lucy, to the point of getting in her face and saying “Hi Lucy, my name is Grace, what’s your name?” a hundred times a day. It’s really cute to see her interact, and I can’t wait for Lucy to be able to communicate back.

We had all four grandparents here over the first two weeks of Lucy’s life, and now we’re settling down into family-of-four-dom. I’m off until January, and I’m trying to both bond with Lucy and occupy Grace’s considerable energy and interests. It’s a lot of fun.
