Tapered

This morning called for a four-mile run, not really noteworthy, except for the fact that I hadn’t run only four miles since sometime in September of 2009, when I officially started training for the marathon. It’s tapering week, which feels good, though I still manage to feel winded when I’m done. The big day is Sunday (less than four days from now) and they’ve got a sold-out field of 25,000 signed up. The weather has gotten significantly hotter this week; I hope it cools down a bit by Sunday, but who knows. I feel ready, and I’m excited to see the whole course for the first time. It’s been a long time since my first marathon five and a half years ago, and I’m curious to see how I’ll do. Packet pickup is on Friday at Dodger Stadium, and then Aimee will drop me off there early Sunday morning before the race starts at 7:25.
