An afternoon on the Earnslaw

July 10th, 2009 · No Comments

Despite the fact that Aimee’s Christchurch friends labeled it a bit of an “old lady” sort of activity as far as Queenstown goes, we had a lovely time trundling around Lake Wakatipu aboard the 1912 steamer the TSS Earnslaw. We took the trip across to the Walter Peak Farm, and got a look at what it takes to run a high country farm, as well as a demonstration of the awesome skills of Storm, the farm’s short-haired border collie. We returned singing, as the on-board pianist led us all in some mostly American songs, mostly sung in French by the big group of Tahitian students on board.

It’s our last night in Queenstown, and our second to last here in New Zealand. I’ll be sad to leave both.
