House: Day One

So, the day is finally here! A month and a half (though it seems like a lot longer) since we first saw the place, we completed the deal and got the keys. Almost immediately, we started taking down the wallpaper in the living room/dining nook, which is a combination of tedious and satisfying that I never thought possible. We put in a good two hours of work before heading less than a mile away to The Counter for a celebratory burger; note to self: not allowed to do that every night. We’ve got less than three weeks before we move to get the place as ready as we can, so we’ll continue to strip wallpaper in our free time for a few hours after work, while our first contractors (to remove the floor-to-ceiling mirrors and demo/re-tile the bathroom) arrive on Wednesday. It feels great to finally get started, though a little surreal. It’s really ours?
