What a night

Looking back four years to election night 2004, I noted that the only bright spot in the political world was the election of Senator Obama. Could we have believed then what four years would bring? Just incredible. Aimee and I spent the night with some folks from the Obamawood crew at the Hyatt, ten floors above the official Obama LA party, which had an endless line and some attention from the fire marshal when we went down to check it out, so we decided against trying to get in. It didn’t really matter where we were; we just needed to see it happen. It hasn’t quite sunk in yet, but I couldn’t be happier. Well, that’s not true – the disappointments of Prop. 8 here and Alaska’s failure to recognize the corruption of its representation are frustrating – but it’s a feeling of euphoria, of relief, of an amazing pride that took me by surprise. The evening began with the most beautiful sunset, too, as seen from the tenth floor looking to the west.
