We celebrated the godfather of modern-day California exploration by having breakfast at his favorite eatery, Philippe’s the Original, birthplace of the French Dip. I didn’t have the dip, but had eggs and potatoes instead, but we got to soak in the ambience – sawdust on the floors, a “railroad museum” in the back room, people for all walks of life – and enjoyed visiting the restaurant for the first time in this, its 100th year.
Off to Home Movie Day in Culver City today.
Happy Birthday, Huell
