Busy!

It’s been a busy week and weekend, and it’s only the beginning. Last week, Aimee got an interview with a school district up in Rochester, so we hopped in the car Wednesday night for a Thursday morning interview. By Thursday night, we were back, and by Friday morning, she’d been offered a job. That’s the way things should always go… We had time to sit outside our apartment for a few minutes and to eat lunch across the street at Magnolia’s again, and we’re still in search of that perfect place to stop for a break halfway between Boston and Roch – it’s not Amsterdam (our first attempt) and it’s not Schenectady (our thought this time around). We fared a little better with Schenectady and actually found a place to eat there, but it was too far out of the way and underwhelming.

Aimee’s job is about as good as we could have expected – no need to go back for another interview, the same grade she teaches this year, with benefits – it’s perfect. Now that that’s off her shoulders, it’s time to concentrate on the wedding, the honeymoon, and the move.

Josh, Mark, Scott, and the 4 Train outside Yankee StadiumThis weekend, I returned to New York for my bachelor party, with my brother, my brother-in-law-to-be, and two good friends. The days of bar-hopping, food, and baseball were very enjoyable, and I was really happy to have the guys meet one another and hang out. It was blisteringly hot, especially in the tier boxes at Yankee Stadium, but we spent enough time inside at Pearson’s, McSorley’s, and Xunta to stay reasonably cool.

Now I’m back in town and getting ready to move out of the apartment tomorrow night, followed by a Wednesday trip to Newport to get the marriage license and a Friday departure for Michael and Ali’s wedding in San Diego. That’s about as far ahead as I can think right now, but I’m pretty sure there’s something going on next weekend, too.
