Back on the run

February 23rd, 2005 · No Comments

For the first time since the marathon four and a half months ago (and with two months and a day until my next race), I went for a run this morning. I hadn’t planned to languish this long, but the combination of satisfaction, laziness, snow, Netflix, and my toe helped me put off getting started again until now. And contrary to my fears, I haven’t forgotten how to do it. I couldn’t go very long, but it felt good, and all of the sudden October feels not so long ago anymore. As I ran from my house down to the Charles River, my thoughts kept straying to the election and the baseball playoffs, the two subjects most heavily on my mind during those last few months of training. It’ll take awhile to dissociate running from campaign ads and box scores, but I’ll find something new to think about, I’m sure.
