Birthday Week

February 12th, 2005 · No Comments

I’ve never been lucky enough to be the “Birthday Prince” before, but I guess this one called for something out of the ordinary. I think we’ve been celebrating my birthday since sometime around MLK Day, and hey, it’s almost Valentine’s Day now. Friday night, Aimee threw a bash for me at her place, complete with appetizers, party streamers, and the inaugural use of our AirPort Express (combined with Party Shuffle™ and AirTunes).

30_chris.jpgThe twenty of us had a great time hanging out – it’s always fun to see people from different circles getting along. The J.P. Licks Oreo ice cream cake was amazing, and the margaritas and cosmopolitans Mark concocted were popular as well. I consented to putting on the “Prince” crown, and enjoyed the chance to catch up with Michael (planning wedding, weird car accident experience in CA last month), Josh (working a lot, freaky neighbor issues), Chris (pleased to be here on the right day, having shown up on a Friday night a month ago thinking the party was that night), and Dan (not much to catch up on; got a haircut since I’d seen him earlier that afternoon).

After another appointment at Firefly Press, we spent a relaxing day at Aimee’s place. The party wasn’t over yet, though… Last night, Aimee’s family had a joint party for me and for Aimee’s aunt, another member of the February 6th club. We had some terrific food, a great evening with the kids, a phone call from Aimee’s dad in Amsterdam, and some great presents, including the Citizen Kane snow-globe, which will take its rightful place in my office (that is, of course, until it rolls out of my hand and onto the floor…). More Mac gifts, too – the new iLife suite as well as an iTunes gift card. Excellent! But now I think it’s over, and time to get used to thirty the reality, as opposed to thirty the occasion. Not so bad, really.
